TwoFind a Business

The primary key to obtain information within D&B is the D-U-N-S® number. Unless you already know the D-U-N-S number for a business, the first thing you would need to do is uniquely identify a business by matching the information you have about the company with our database and obtain it's D-U-N-S number.

The key identification elements you can match on are

  • Company Name or Tradestyle
  • Registered or mailing address
  • National registration number such as the CRO in the UK or KVK number in Netherlands
  • Phone number

When you supply this information to the findBusiness service, D&B's match engine will look for candidates that match the criteria specified and will return one or more candidates in a list. The more precise the information supplied, the lower number of candidates will be returned. For example a registration number will generally return one candidate. However, if only company name and country are supplied, you could get the maximum number of candidates returned. The match engine will always place the most likely candidate at the top of the list.

Step 3 - Ordering a data product , report product, financial data product or company document
